Vintage Lubis Beech and Elm rocking chair
Lubis Beech and Elm rocking chair
A Mid-Century Beech and Elm rocking chair with bow back spindle design. This chair was manufactured in South Africa by Lubis and was a copy of the iconic British Ercol range - ‘470 Windsor Tub Rocking Chair’. Beautifully made and in terms of its own merit, highly collectible and hard to find.
Its design is intended for indulgent and comfortable relaxation. A significant milestone in the evolution of Windsor chairs is their backrest design, which can be just as captivating as the front when viewed upon entering a room.
The wooden frame is made out of beech and the backrest showcases slim, vertical slats that gracefully structure the chair's back, creating a captivating visual appeal. The armrests, gently curved and adorned with the same vertical slats. With beech legs and frame in perfect harmony, this chair embodies a sculptural yet graceful look. The rich color of the beech wood further enhances its classic charm, evoking a timeless aesthetic.
