Danish vintage Secretaire / Bureau desk in rosewood by Gunnar Falsig for Møbelfabrik Holstebro - 1960s
Danish vintage Secretaire / Bureau desk in rosewood by Gunnar Falsig
Designed by Gunnar Falsig and dating from the 1960s this beautiful Danish bureau/secretaire in pleasingly patterned, highly figured book-matched Brasilian rosewood veneer and beech combination, raised on solid rosewood round tapered legs, with four small top drawers with recessed pulls above a shelf over the bow-fronted writing slide (perfect for using with a laptop) and the lower curved bow-fronted three full-width drawers each having two delightfully turned handles set within sculpted discs. The bureau is missing its original glass slide doors - but without them, it simply leaves the middle shelf open, creating the perfect space to display books.
This bureau is compact in size but has plenty of storage and a pull-out desktop. Making it a very practical piece as well as aesthetically pleasing item of furniture. It is the small details that separate this piece from the crowd. In typical Danish fashion, this piece is highly versatile, offering storage, display, and writing surface all in one elegant compact piece of furniture. The details on the piece are exquisite!
Manufactured by Holstebro Møbelfabrik aka Falsig Møbelfabrik. This secretaire is sometimes attributed to Arne Vodder who may have designed it for Falsig.
