A pair of vintage easy chairs by Lubis (SA)
Collectible Lubis pair of vintage easy chairs
A pair of vintage easy chairs manufactured in South Africa by Lubis and was a copy of the iconic British Ercol model 203 Windsor Bergere Easy Chair. Beautifully made and in terms of its own merit, highly collectible and hard to find.
The design is intended for indulgent and comfortable relaxation. A significant milestone in the evolution of Windsor chairs is their backrest design, which can be just as captivating as the front when viewed upon entering a room.
The wooden frame is made out of beech and the backrest showcases slim, vertical slats that gracefully structure the chair's back, creating a captivating visual appeal. The armrests, gently curved and adorned with the same vertical slats. With beech legs and frame in perfect harmony, this chair embodies a sculptural yet graceful look. The rich color of the beech wood further enhances its classic charm, evoking a timeless aesthetic.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. The wooden frames have been gently refurbished and sealed. It was very darkly stained, but we have brought it as close to the original light wood colour as possible.
