Original Vintage Danish mid-century modern teak extendable dining table
Authentic Vintage Danish Teak extendable dining table, circa 1960s
Original Vintage Danish mid-century modern teak extendable dining table, with 2 leaves.
A classic Danish modern design with clean, minimalist, geometric lines. The table is well-crafted from solid and veneer teak with distinctive design detailing like the "finger" dovetail joints and a floating tabletop on a pedestal base. Unmarked, but very reminiscent of designs by Jens Risom or Niels Møller
Round: to seat 4, extends to oval: to seat 6, to elliptical with 2nd leaf: to seat 8 comfortably.
Condition: Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage, signs of use and wear are to be expected. The top has been gently refurbished and refinished, there are a couple of light nicks still present on the rim, but barely visible. The base was also refurbished and refinished. Please see photos and zoom in for details.
Table dimensions:
Closed round 120 cm
Open: 2 additional leaves each 60 cm wide.
No makers mark, only the sliders on the underside of the piece are marked by ‘LZ Monster Skydd’ they seem to have been suppliers or makers of furniture hardware in Sweden.
Provenance:
We have the original 1976 receipt from Georg Jensen Inc. in Toronto for the table, acquired alongside the iconic Niels O. Møller Model 71 dining chairs we had previously (stamped).
Georg Jensen Inc. Stores, had a separate furniture showroom, they were high-end retailers that sold made-in-Denmark pieces.
…With wartime materials restrictions, Jensen's launched in fall 1942 "The Lunning Collection," a modern furniture collection comprising 21 designs by Jens Risom, executed in-house, along with pieces designed and executed by Otto Christiansen
